MATOUŠKOVÁ, Sára
This bachelor's thesis deals with the social needs of single mothers in Tabor. The aim of this thesis was to map out the social needs of single mothers in Tabor - to find out what social needs single mothers have and to identify key problems in fulfilling these needs. Two research questions were established: 1. What are the needs of single mothers? 2. What are the key problems in fulfilling their social needs? To achieve this goal, a qualitative research strategy was chosen, using the method of questioning and the technique of semi-structured interviews. The research sample, which was selected by purposive sampling, consisted of single mothers living in the city of Tabor. Interviews were conducted with a total of 6 communication partners. The information obtained was then processed using open coding in the Atlas.ti program. Two categories were created from the processed data. The research results showed that the communication partners have several social needs on which they agree. These include the need for social contact, social support, financial autonomy, and safety and security. The results also revealed that communication partners often share the problems that prevent them from fulfilling their needs. The main problems are lack of time, balancing work and family life, and finances. The results also present forms of help that communication partners believe could aid in the easier fulfilment of their social needs. The results of this bachelor's thesis can be used as informational material for social workers or social service organizations. The bachelor's thesis could also help with improving public awareness about this topic.

Two research questions were chosen: 1. "What are the positives of the life of single mothers?" 2. "What are the negatives of single mothers'lives?" This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part briefly describes the current state, negative phenomena in the life of a single mother and the risks of single life. More specifically, social benefits for single women, maintenance obligations and the situation regarding single women at the time of Covid-19 were described. The practical part was processed using a qualitative strategy, questioning methods and semi-structured interview techniques. Interviews were conducted with single mothers, who were contacted on the basis of the snowball sampling method. The interviews were evaluated using the method of verified coding, on the basic of which eight categories were created. The research found that the life of single women is more complicated than in a complete family, however, it is possible to find both negatives and positives here. Based on the interviews, it was found that it would be desirable to focus on improving and expanding the portfolio of assistance for single mothers. The results of this work can serve as a basis for further research, specifically on how single mothers coped with the Covid-19 crisis, given that this bachelor's thesis monitors the situation of single mothers at the beginning and during the pandemic situation of Covid-19 in 2020/21. My diploma work focuses on the issues of single-parent families in the Czech Republic and selected countries of the European Union from the perspective of social policy. I have selected those countries that border the Czech Republic, i.e. Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Poland. In the theoretical part of my diploma work I define family as an institution, its main functions, its historical development and its present changes. Further, I address the problems of single-parent and divorced parents from the psychosocial view, touching also on the subject from the perspective of the church. In conclusion to the theoretical part I address the social policies of individual countries. The practical part involves two pieces of research. The objective of the first piece of research has been to evaluate and compare statistical data from the social environments of the above mentioned countries with that of the Czech Republic. In the second part of research, by means of a questionnaire, I have sought the opinions and views of future family founders with regard to the issues of single-parents families.
